Gum disease isn’t widely talked about, but can have a big impact on your life. Patients suffering from gum disease often feel less confident and fear losing their teeth. Our office is certified in a unique laser gum disease treatment, the LANAP protocol.
The LANAP® protocol uses a special dental laser, the PerioLase® MVP-7™. A tiny fiber about the width of three human hairs is inserted between the gum tissue and teeth, where it targets and destroys bacteria deep within the pockets of the gums without affecting healthy tissue.
Because of the gentle nature of the procedure, patients typically see immediate results with less bleeding when brushing and less bad breath. Of course, your gums need time to recover and heal, but after LANAP treatment, you can drive your car, go back to work, or do anything else you like.
Patient Benefits:
The LANAP® laser gum surgery protocol has given us a faster, more reliable way to solve patient issues related to gum disease. Using a high-tech tool called the PerioLase® MVP-7™, a space-age variable-pulse handheld laser, we are able to deep clean the periodontal pockets that have formed between the teeth and gums. After LANAP® treatment, the site is not only sanitized, but is in a better position for soft tissue regeneration. Studies have shown that several months after LANAP® treatment, most patients see a significant change in the depth of their periodontal pockets.
The LANAP® protocol is the only laser gum disease treatment that is FDA-approved and proven to promote gum tissue regeneration. Simply put, LANAP® is a minimally invasive way to regenerate gum tissue after gum disease.
If you have gum disease, it is essential that you visit a periodontist on a regular basis. Although you can do a lot at home to help keep your mouth clean and healthy, only a trained professional has the equipment and skills to stop the progression of gum disease. With regular treatments and a customized plan based on your dental health, you can avoid the systemic effects of gum disease such as cancer, high blood pressure, stroke and diabetes.
Osseous surgery involves smoothing out the bone around your tooth roots that have been damaged due to gum disease related bacteria build-up. However, in some cases, LANAP® may enable you to avoid osseous surgery. The LANAP® protocol is not only safe, but it uses zero cutting and sutures.
